The Barrel House is a charming rustic A-frame dry cabin nestled in the heart of Eastern Kentucky, in the Red River Gorge area, offering a unique experience. With accommodations for up to four guests on two comfortable queen beds, this cozy retreat exudes a bourbon-themed ambiance. Guests can unwind amidst a rustic design crafted from locally sourced, rough-cut lumber and an array of reclaimed materials. The cabin features a wood-fired stove for warmth and a split unit for both heating and AC, ensuring comfort in any season. Music aficionados will delight in the vintage record player, adding an old-school charm to the ambiance. Additionally, this dog-friendly unit boasts a coffee bar, making it an idyllic haven for those seeking a distinctive stay amid the stunning landscapes of Eastern Kentucky's Red River Gorge.

Perfectly situated within a brief 20-minute drive from the heart of Slade, known as the "Gateway to the Gorge," that offers access to an abundance of hiking trails, mesmerizing waterfalls, natural arches, exquisite dining, and the internationally acclaimed sport of rock climbing. Nestled within the property's community Glamping area is a harmonious blend of natural delights. Beneath the welcoming canopy of trees, a tree swing beckons with its timeless allure, offering a moment of carefree joy. Nearby, the flickering flames of fire pits create a cozy ambiance, inviting communal gatherings and shared stories. The aroma of sizzling charcoal barbecue wafts through the air, enticing taste buds and fostering connections. However, the true gem of the area is the enigmatic handwoven net dubbed the “Dark Web”. This ample structure capable of holding up to eight individuals is where conversations weave a tapestry of diverse perspectives fostering an atmosphere of unique camaraderie and shared experiences. Please note that the Peddlers Bar is a private event bar and is not open for general use. 

In the heart of our sanctuary, the shared indoor-outdoor bathhouse offers a serene retreat, allowing you to connect intimately with nature. Drawing inspiration from our journeys through Southeast Asia, the design embodies a harmonious fusion of modern sustainability and natural tranquility. Equipped with two innovative electric compost toilets and two thoughtfully crafted indoor-outdoor showers, the bathhouse encourages a reconnection with the elements. However, during the winter season, due to occasional below freezing temps, the showers and hand sinks are closed to protect the infrastructure, promising a reopening in the blossoming warmth of spring.

Daniel is an emerging Singer/Songwriter from Paducah, KY who has been described as “one of the best storytelling songwriters in Nashville”. His music blends sensitive and articulate lyrics with effortless fingerpicking and powerful vocals. With a voice that is honest and passionate, Daniel holds nothing back every time he takes the stage. In a short time he has built a reputation as a songwriter to watch. There is no doubt that he has a long career ahead of him. Each piece in The Barrel House has been meticulously chosen by Daniel to take you on a journey of Kentucky history. From the hand crafted light fixture made from Kentucky barrel rings and local reclaimed tobacco sticks to the Kentucky bourbon stave walls. Closed seasonally from December 1st to March 1st.
